Clinical Lab Technologist (Position level I, II, or III)

Responsibilities:
- Process medically relevant biological samples via DNA extraction and/or high-throughput next-generation DNA sequencing assays.
- Perform DNA extractions, PCR amplification, and/or high-throughput sequencing on DNA libraries using standard lab processes.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment (e.g., liquid handling robotics, DNA sequencers).
- Complete routine clinical/research sample processing, validations, reagent QC runs, and special projects accurately while following strict methodologies.
- Provide guidance to less-experienced staff (Level I).
- Perform training and/or competency assessments for team members on high-complexity molecular methods (Level II).
- Suggest changes to existing laboratory procedures/processes to improve efficiency and results (Level III).
- Maintain regulatory compliance and ensure accurate, detailed recordkeeping (Good Documentation Practices).
- Maintain continuing education credit requirements.
- Record nonconformances for appropriate errors.
- Enter and track data in a laboratory information database (LIMS).
- Support regulatory responsibilities per GMP, GCP, GLP, and “Testing Personnel” requirements for high complexity testing (42CFR493.1495).
- All other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications/skills:
- Molecular biology skills (e.g., DNA extraction/purification, PCR, qPCR, next-generation DNA sequencing).
- Experience working with human specimens (e.g., blood, tissues, cells) and biohazardous material.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate across teams and disciplines.
- Level I (must meet ONE): Bachelor’s+ in medical technology/laboratory science OR Bachelor’s+ in chemical/biological sciences + 6 months high-complexity molecular experience/training in a CLIA-certified clinical lab.
- Level II (must meet ALL): Bachelor’s+ (medical tech/lab science, chemical science, or biological science); 1 year high-complexity clinical lab experience/training (CLIA); 3 years pertinent molecular lab experience; 2 years with a Master’s+.
- Level III (must meet ALL): Bachelor’s+ (medical tech/lab science, chemical science, or biological science); 3 years high-complexity clinical lab experience/training (CLIA); 2 years with a Master’s+; 5 years pertinent molecular lab experience; 3 years with a Master’s+; competent in laboratory automation and best practices.

Preferred:
- ASCP(MB) certification.
- Experience in a clinical, high-throughput environment.
- Working knowledge of lab terminology, equipment, and supplies.
- Experience working in an electronic LIMS.
- Self-motivated; can work independently with minimal supervision while working effectively in a team.
- Experience with Adaptive Sample Prep or PCR/sequencing technologies/methods.

Working conditions:
- Laboratory handling human biological specimens; shifts may include late evenings and weekends.
- Ability to sit/stand much of the day and perform computer data entry.

Compensation (base):
- Level I: $26.87–$40.34/hour
- Level II: $30.24–$45.34/hour
- Level III: $38.17–$57.31/hour
