Job Summary
- The Laboratory Technician I ensures timely, accurate, and comprehensive processing during screening, admission, study conduct, and discharge.
Essential Functions
- Perform lab testing (e.g., Alcohol Breathalyzer, Urine Drug Screen, COVID-19 testing) in compliance with study protocol, GCP, SOPs, QA/QC, OSHA, and applicable regulations.
- Support study coordination (when applicable).
- Prepare reagents; assist with equipment calibration and other lab tasks as assigned.
- Perform QC of laboratory documents.
- Ensure integrity, well-being, and safety of study participants.
- Provide administrative/operational support to the site team.
- Print and provide lab results to designees in a timely manner.
- Coordinate specimen shipping (courier arrangements, shipment notifications, confirm arrival, maintain shipping records, ensure adequate supplies, label quality checks).
- Serve as Client Services to Sponsors.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and neat working environment.
Qualifications
- Education: Advanced laboratory or medical procedure training/certification preferred.
- Experience: 1–2 years in a clinical environment; 1+ year as a laboratory technician or equivalent; equivalent education/experience may substitute.
- Certification/Licensure: BLS preferred.
Skills
- Lab equipment experience; ability to aliquot specimens (preferred). Vital signs/ECGs.
- Strong communication; independent decision-making; follow written directions; handle competing priorities; attention to detail; MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
