Description Overview
- Perrigo Nutritionals (Georgia, VT) is seeking a Chemist.
- 3rd shift: 12:00 AM – 8:30 AM, Sunday – Thursday.
- $25 – $29 per hour.
Scope of the Role (Laboratory Analyses)
- Prepare analytical standards (identify, weigh, dilute stock standards for calibration).
- Weigh and process sample materials for analytical methods.
- Perform sample manipulations: quantitative dilutions, add analytical reagents, process samples using incubators/shakers/centrifuges/evaporators, etc.
- Extract sample solutions (liquid-liquid and solid-phase techniques).
- Transfer sample extracts quantitatively between vessels.
- Configure instruments and perform routine operation.
- Prepare lab reagents (buffers, mobile phases, etc.) and clean materials after analysis.
- Perform routine analyses of raw materials and finished products; demonstrate proficiency in 5–10 chromatographic analytical methods.
- Use HPLC, GC, ICAP-AES, and FT-IR.
- Calculate analyses; log samples into LIMS.
- Investigate analytical methods when OOS results are noted.
- Other duties as assigned (sensory evaluation, team assignments, training, equipment calibration, control charts, audit).
Experience Required
- Four-year college degree in chemistry or related science (or consideration for 10 years of progressively responsible/relevant experience).
- Flexibility, adaptability, and versatility.
Preferred Experience
- 2–3 years analytical chemistry laboratory experience.
- Understanding of cGMP and nutritional requirements.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office; working knowledge of LIMS and SAP desired.
- Willingness to contribute to and lead a high-performance work team.
Physical Requirements
- Lift/carry up to 10 lbs. regularly; up to 20 lbs. occasionally; push/pull up to 55 lbs. (or equivalency) per safe practices.
- Use hands and fingers to handle; feel or operate objects.
