Role Summary

Cardiometabolic Care Specialist I plays a key role in achieving sales goals by implementing marketing and sales strategies to promote Novo Nordisk's cardiometabolic portfolio to health care professionals and office staff.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates competencies on a consistent basis with territory level impact
  • Demonstrates understanding of the local payer market including Medicare, Commercial and Medicaid benefit designs, payer coverage, prescription coverage requirements, step therapy, coverage gaps, copays, and deductibles and their impact on customer decisions
  • Understands territory customer groups and affiliations (e.g., IPAs, Medical Groups, Health Systems, Local Clinics) and uses this to identify opportunities and tailor approaches
  • Analyzes bidding policies/contracts to influence formulary status
  • Assesses impact of managed care in the territory and adjusts sales/promotion strategies accordingly
  • Develops relationships with specialists, hospital decision-makers, and others who influence purchasing/prescribing/formulary decisions
  • Researches and tailors account plans based on stakeholders and accounts’ business practices
  • Uses understanding of market conditions, trends, priorities, and patient needs to develop and execute territory business plans
  • Implements plans to gain access and build relationships with prescribers, staff, pharmacies, and clinic administrators to drive business impact
  • Maintains professionalism and a customer-focused approach with internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborates across functions to share knowledge and opportunities
  • Applies Novo Nordisk Edge Selling Model with external customers and during company-sponsored meetings
  • Uses analytical tools to evaluate opportunities and create plans to engage customers and gain commitment to appropriate patient types and payer opportunities
  • Coordinates with internal stakeholders to implement plans and define roles/responsibilities
  • Manages samples and company property in accordance with policies; manages discretionary territory and promotional program budgets
  • Maintains thorough understanding of disease states and treatment options, including NNI and competitor products
  • Engages customers with knowledge of promoted clinical studies and appropriate placement within the treatment continuum
  • Participates in sales and marketing meetings, training programs, conventions, and displays

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent degree, and/or Pharm D
  • Minimum one year of experience in pharmaceutical/healthcare, sales, consulting, customer service, or military preferred
  • Intermediate computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel); experience with sales data/call reporting software ideal
  • Self-starter with ability to evaluate options and make decisions with minimal supervision
  • Aptitude for leadership and decision-making
  • Solid understanding of current therapy areas (diabetes and obesity) and Novo Nordisk products; ability to learn and communicate technical information
