Role Summary

Cardiometabolic Care Specialist I - Bakersfield North, CA. Responsible for achieving sales goals by implementing marketing and sales strategies aimed at effectively selling and promoting Novo Nordisk's portfolio of products to healthcare professionals and other office staff. Establish and maintain professional relationships with physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, pharmacists, nurses, and other paramedical customers, and collaborate with internal teams to drive territory success.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates competencies on a consistent basis with territory level impact
  • Understands local payer market designs and their impact on customer decisions
  • Assesses territory customer groups and affiliations to identify business opportunities
  • Analyzes bidding policies/contracts to influence formulary status
  • Assesses impact of managed care on prescribing decisions and adjusts strategies
  • Develops relationships with specialists and hospital decision-makers influencing purchasing and formulary decisions
  • Researches and tailors account plans based on stakeholders and accounts’ practices
  • Uses market understanding to develop and execute territory business plans
  • Gains access and builds relationships with customers to drive business impact in clinical management of patients
  • Maintains professionalism and customer-focused communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborates across functions to share knowledge and opportunities
  • Implements Novo Nordisk Edge Selling Model with external customers during company-sponsored meetings
  • Strategic planning, pre-call planning, and creating customer engagement
  • Adapts approach, delivers solutions, and resolves objections
  • Gains commitment and transitions with customers
  • Uses analytical tools to evaluate opportunities and create plans to meet territory sales goals
  • Coordinates with internal stakeholders to implement plans and define responsibilities
  • Manages samples and company property according to policies; oversees discretionary territory and promotional budgets
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of disease states and available treatments, including both Novo Nordisk and competitor products
  • Participates in meetings, training, and events to contribute product and disease state knowledge

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent degree, and/or PharmD required
  • Minimum one year of experience in pharmaceutical/healthcare, sales, consulting, customer service, or military preferred
  • Intermediate computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel); experience with sales data/call reporting software preferred
  • Self-starter with ability to evaluate options and make independent decisions
  • Aptitude for leadership and decision-making
  • Solid understanding of current therapy areas (diabetes and obesity) and knowledge of Novo Nordisk products; ability to learn and communicate technical information
