Business Development Senior Manager (External R&D – Oncology)
Responsibilities:
- Identify, prioritize, and evaluate innovative therapeutic opportunities from early preclinical through clinical/commercial stages.
- Lead strategic discussions/presentations with senior management, R&D, and Commercial to set priorities for licensure or M&A.
- Proactively source opportunities via networking and scientific sessions; monitor pipelines/news and sources such as KOLs, VCs, and industry leaders.
- Partner with product teams to evaluate oncology clinical collaborations.
- Guide/manage evaluations with cross-functional teams (R&D, Commercial, CMC/manufacturing, Legal, IP, others).
- Provide recommendations and ensure robust/efficient decision-making.
- Coordinate with Business Development functions to achieve appropriate deal structures and valuations.
- Maintain thorough records; share Business Development vision internally/externally.
Required/Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate + 2 years drug development/consulting/Business Development/competitive intelligence, OR
- Master’s + 4 years Business Development and/or drug development industry experience, OR
- Bachelor’s + 6 years, OR
- Associate’s + 10 years, OR
- High school/GED + 12 years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctorate in a scientific discipline with strong oncology knowledge.
- 3+ years biotech/pharma BD and/or drug development/consulting/competitive intelligence.
- Strong scientific, organizational, communication, and project management skills; manage multiple projects; proven accomplishments.
- Present to senior executives; problem-solving, prioritization, deadline management.
- Relationship-building; interfaces with Commercial, Legal, CMC, Finance; can work independently and lead cross-functional teams.
