Job Description for Brand Manager

To reinforce our Canadian Sales & Marketing team, the incumbent will help develop and implement strategic and tactical marketing plans for the marketed products within our Canadian portfolio, helping to achieve profit and sales objectives that contribute to the attainment of Valneva's overall business goals. Reporting to the Head of Marketing, Canada, the successful candidate will be a significant driver in delivery of the strategic marketing roadmap for the Canadian portfolio.

Working cross functionally with key internal and external partners (e.g., sales, medical, finance, legal, global marketing, agencies etc.), the role will support maximizing the value of Valneva's assets through exceptional management of key deliverables on time and on budget. The ideal candidate has a proactive ownership of responsibilities, keen marketing acumen and the ability to contribute strategically and operationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the creation of brand plans for each product in our Canadian portfolio, ensuring that they appropriately reflect the global brand plans, where applicable.
  • Design, plan and execute direct marketing campaigns that drive business results.
  • Develop, execute and monitor of the tactical plan in order to meet objectives in accordance with the strategic priorities.
  • Set priorities in the tactical marketing activities to optimally support the performance goals.
  • Develop and handle specific complex accounts in order to build productive and meaningful working partnerships.
  • Provide marketing and promotional materials and strategic direction to the sales organization.
  • Market scanning and analysis of trends to identify and address market opportunities and allow timely intervention when required.
  • Monitor and control product performance and budgets and adjusts plans accordingly.
  • Develop and apply appropriate metrics for marketing strategies, programs, tools and tactics.
  • Work cross functionally with key internal and external partners (e.g., sales, medical, finance, legal, global marketing, agencies etc.) to ensure optimal support for the products.
  • Build and maintain relationships with selected top customers, wholesalers and KOLs to allow easy access to the market and relevant information.
  • Act as a product leader by developing and continuously updating knowledge and therapy, product and market.
  • Meet with key customers and spend time with Key Account Managers on a regular basis to maintain a good understanding of the market dynamics and priorities.
  • Ensure that the promotional material developed is consistent with local regulatory regulations and updated as needed to be compliant.
  • The Brand Manager is responsible to complete the company's pharmacovigilance training and to report all adverse events or other safety relevant information received from healthcare professionals and other source relating to products distributed by Valneva to the Pharmacovigilance department as per the company's requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing.
  • A minimum of 5 years pharmaceutical experience, with a broad understanding in the areas of marketing and sales structures and dynamics in Canada.
  • Documented track record of success in product and life cycle management and in leading and designing brand plans including communication strategies targeting patients and health care professionals.
  • Omni-channel direct marketing experience.
  • Understanding of the changing digital environment particularly how this can impact internal planning and strategy.
  • Ability to lead and motivate informal teams without line management authorities.
  • Able to work with a wide variety of people in an effective manner.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to clearly translate and effectively communicate issues which could impact business.
  • Project management ability to allow structured project definition and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions.
  • Drive business in accordance with the company's Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
  • Ability to generate new concepts and ideas to improve our competitive advantage or processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and strategic thinking skills.
  • Successful launch of a major brand is an asset.
  • Incumbent must demonstrate that he/she is entrepreneurial, results-oriented, organized, possesses strong internal skills and is able to work with a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Skills.
  • Bilingual preferred.
