The Area Vice President (AVP), Sales provides leadership, direction, and developmental guidance to Regional Business Directors (RBDs) to achieve commercial objectives while ensuring patient focus, compliance, and employee engagement. Reporting to the VP, Sales, the AVP develops and executes regional business strategies, builds high-performing teams, and partners cross-functionally to maximize product performance and improve patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute regional business plans aligned with corporate objectives; deliver sales targets
- Analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, and performance metrics; identify growth opportunities
- Allocate resources to maximize ROI
- Recruit, develop, and retain sales leaders; coach RBDs
- Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement; lead succession planning and talent reviews
- Ensure consistent brand strategy execution; monitor KPIs and drive performance improvement plans
- Drive data-driven decision making
- Partner with Marketing, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Sales Operations, Training, HR; Compliance and Commercial Analytics
- Ensure activities comply with FDA regulations, company policies, and industry standards; foster integrity and ethical decision-making
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelorβs degree required (advanced degree preferred)
- 10β15 years sales/management in healthcare; 5+ years leading first-line sales organizations
- Success leading large, geographically dispersed teams; proven track record exceeding sales objectives
- Strong analytical/financial acumen; excellent executive communication/presentation
- Proactive self-starter; strong strategic leadership, decision-making, cross-functional collaboration, adaptability, conflict resolution, written/verbal communication, organizational skills, relationship building
Working conditions:
- Periodic evening/weekend work as needed; ~50% travel
- Reside in the West Region (preferably near specified metro areas)
Compensation:
- Anticipated base salary range: $240,000β$320,000
