Role Summary
AVP-Assistant General Counsel β Head of Global Pharmaceutical Capabilities Legal. Lead the legal team providing strategic counseling and legal support to cross-brand commercialization initiatives for the US and globally. Serve as principal legal advisor for Lillyβs Master Brand and Corporate Communications function and oversee a team of 3-5 attorneys supporting enterprise-wide initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a globally focused pharmaceutical commercial capabilities legal team, counseling on cross-brand and cross-geography initiatives, including Global Patient Support Programs and digital enablement projects with promotional implications.
- Provide direct legal support and strategic guidance for master brand strategy, brand partnerships (negotiation, compliance, risk management), and corporate communications.
- Collaborate with Lilly Legal leadership to deliver integrated legal solutions.
- Drive adoption of technology to enhance legal service delivery and operational efficiency.
- Build and extend relationships with internal and external stakeholders, aligning legal support with business objectives.
- Ensure the legal team delivers proactive, business-oriented solutions that enable innovation and growth while managing risk.
- Anticipate and resolve highly complex legal, technical, and business problems using advanced critical thinking and industry expertise.

- Drafting, reviewing, and providing guidance on contracts with brand partners or master brand sponsorship agreements.
- Reviewing and advising on internal and external communications for compliance with laws, rules, regulations, and policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelorβs and JD degrees; admitted to the bar in at least one U.S. state.
- Eligible for admission to the Indiana bar under Indiana Admissions Rules.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant legal experience in law firm or in-house at a pharmaceutical/biotech company, with demonstrated expertise in market access.
Skills
- Experience leading global legal teams and supporting cross-brand, cross-geography initiatives.
- Expertise in product development, marketing, distribution, analytics, and pharmaceutical commercialization.
- Ability to influence senior executives, manage complex legal issues, and deliver innovative solutions.
- Experience as a global product attorney or at a pharmaceutical/biotech company preferred.
- Knowledge of anti-kickback statute, FDA promotional laws and regulations, competition law, pricing, reimbursement, and access issues.
- Strong communication, analytical skills, learning agility, and meticulous attention to detail.
