Role Summary
As an Associate Software Engineer at Caris, you will contribute to the development of internal and external software applications that support clinical and research workflows for Provider Organizations. You’ll work under the guidance of senior engineers and cross-functional teams including Software Engineers, Architects, Product Managers, and QA specialists. This role is ideal for early-career developers looking to grow their skills in full-stack development and enterprise data systems.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and maintaining external-facing web applications using modern frameworks and languages such as Python, JavaScript (Node.js, React or Vue).
- Participate in requirement gathering sessions and contribute to technical design discussions.
- Write clean, maintainable code and collaborate with senior engineers during code reviews.
- Support QA efforts by writing and executing unit tests and assisting in defect resolution.
- Monitor and respond to incident tickets with guidance from senior team members.
- Collaborate with DevOps and cloud operations teams to support application deployments.
- Learn and apply best practices in security, including HIPAA compliance and secure coding standards.
- Document technical solutions and contribute to knowledge-sharing within the team.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning and retrospectives.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Required: 0–2 years of experience in software development, preferably with exposure to Python and JavaScript.
- Required: Familiarity with front-end frameworks like React or Vue and back-end technologies like Node.js.
- Required: Basic understanding of databases (SQL, MySQL/Postgres) and RESTful APIs.
- Required: Exposure to version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Required: Willingness to learn cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Required: Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to grow in a collaborative environment.
- Required: Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Preferred: Internship or academic project experience in web application development.
- Preferred: Familiarity with UX tools like Figma or Balsamiq.
- Preferred: Exposure to security protocols like OAuth 2.0 or OIDC.
- Preferred: Interest in AI tools and modern development practices.
- Preferred: Exposure to AI tools like Cursor AI or similar.
