The Associate Medical Director/Medical Director (full-time, onsite; Pasadena, CA) will report to the head of cardiometabolic clinical development and help bring RNA interference therapies to patients. Initially focuses on siRNA programs targeting cardiac and metabolic (lipids and obesity) indications. Hands-on responsibility for designing and managing clinical studies to evaluate efficacy, safety, dose selection, and clinical pharmacology.
Responsibilities:
- Support conceptualization, design, development, execution, and communication of clinical studies across therapeutic areas
- Serve as medical lead on cross-functional teams (medical, scientific, clinical, safety, program management, regulatory)
- Communicate protocols and relevant information with clinical site investigators and staff
- Interpret clinical trial data and communicate results clearly
- Provide clinical monitoring (eligibility criteria, toxicity management, drug safety surveillance)
- Contribute to documents (IRB submissions, protocols, study reports, publications, regulatory submissions including NDA/MAA)
- Provide high-level scientific/clinical guidance to delivery teams to meet milestones
- Identify key opinion leaders; participate in clinical advisory boards
- Make scientific presentations at advisory boards and external meetings
- Identify/evaluate medical need and clinical path for new RNAi applications
- Monitor new RNAi developments in industry/academia
- Support in-licensing/out-licensing and partner relationships
Requirements:
- M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. with research experience
- Hands-on translational research experience (pharma/biotech or academic)
- Understanding of drug development; desire to develop meaningful therapeutics
- Knowledge of GCP, FDA regulations/guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements
- Ability to evaluate outside expert advice
- Strong written/oral communication of complex concepts
- Independent, fast-paced team-based work; strong clinical/scientific/technical skills
- Strong interpersonal skills; sense of urgency and project management
Preferred:
- Fellowship training (e.g., cardiology, endocrinology)
- Research focused on lipids or obesity
Pay range (California): $275,000–$310,000 USD.
