Position Summary
The Associate Medical Director is a strategic medical affairs role supporting the development and lifecycle of innovative retinal therapeutics.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following
- Serve as a scientific expert and external-facing medical representative in retina; engage with retina specialists, investigators, and KOLs
- Develop and maintain long-term scientific relationships with retinal thought leaders
- Lead scientific discussions on mechanism of action, clinical data, trial design, and unmet medical needs
- Partner with Clinical Development, Regulatory, Commercial, and Market Access teams; translate external insights into internal recommendations
- Support internal training/education on disease state, competitive landscape, and emerging science
- Collaborate with site PIs/coordinators and Clinical Operations to execute clinical trial enrollment goals (activation, screening, recruitment, retention)
- Inform future study design considerations based on site insights
- Develop retrospective analytic strategies (database/post hoc analyses) to address investigator and internal research questions
- Support/exeute Clinical Steering Committees, Study Coordinator Steering Committees, Investigator Advisory Boards, and Scientific Advisory Boards
- Support data generation and publication with Medical Communications and internal Scientific Communications teams
- Identify investigator sites and deliver clinical training
- Support payer-informed Market Access study design considerations as needed
Qualification Requirements
- Advanced degree with 3β5+ years retina-focused background (MD/OD/PhD/PharmD, etc.)
- Retina clinical research/study design experience preferred
- 2+ years experience in Medical Affairs, Medical Science Liaison, Clinical Development, or related biotech/pharma role
- Demonstrated analytical capabilities; excellent verbal and written communication
- Leadership/team building; ability to collaborate across functional levels
Weekly travel for retina specialist engagement and Medical Congress attendance required.
Salary Range: $190,000β$230,000 USD
