Government Affairs Associate Director, Operational Excellence
Reports to: Director, Strategic Planning & Operations, Government Affairs
Primary Responsibilities
- Drive Operational Excellence
- Identify operational efficiency gaps and implement targeted improvements (technology development, automation, standardization).
- Champion digital tools and standardized workflows; coordinate continuous improvement and training to bridge skill gaps.
- Lead process documentation and implement a governance framework for consistent, high-quality execution.
- Facilitate capability development by addressing technical skill gaps, coordinating targeted training, and fostering continuous learning.
- Reporting, Compliance, and Financial Oversight
- Integrate and streamline reporting across functions for Government Affairs leadership needs.
- Establish metrics/KPIs and develop consistent Government Affairs dashboards.
- Support Government Affairs financial processes and accounting activities (LRP, Plan, LBE) with ongoing financial oversight.
- AbbVie Corporate Political and AbbVie PAC Operations Leadership Support
- Ensure integration, training, and compliance for political funding operations; serve as SME for political policies/processes.
- Support audits and manage annual tax return preparation with Finance and Treasury.
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement (e.g., OEC, Legal, Finance, AbbVie PAC Board), including annual budget planning and board preparation.
Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Finance, or 10+ years relevant experience.
- Proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams while influencing without authority.
- Experience with data manipulation platforms such as Dataiku, Alteryx, or Tableau (preferred).
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI for advanced analysis, visualization, and presentations.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving; ability to design and implement innovative solutions.
- Business acumen and analytical skills; proactive in identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiencies.
- Ability to manage large budgets, forecasting, horizon scanning, and data analysis for evidence-based improvements.
- Expertise in data management/optimization for reporting, communications, and decision-making.
- Effective executive leadership with strong oral and written communication; able to deliver results with limited supervision.
