The Associate Director, New Product Commercialization supports development of early commercial strategy, conducts opportunity assessments, and performs competitive analysis for emerging precision genetic therapies and technologies. Leads commercial analyses from target identification and discovery through clinical proof-of-concept. Partners with Business Development for commercial assessments of external opportunities and serves as commercial lead on select program teams. Presents findings broadly across the organization, including to senior management.
Responsibilities:
- Lead market assessments (disease, patient, current treatment, unmet need)
- Lead competitive intelligence (R&D landscape and competitor insights) to inform program/portfolio strategy
- Lead development of the target product profile; validate commercial potential via external stakeholder input
- Serve as commercial representative on select program teams; embed commercial considerations into development decisions
- Translate scientific expert insights into clear, actionable asset strategies
- Understand/communicate reimbursement, genetic diagnosis, and differentiation requirements for commercialization
- Engage key external stakeholders (KOLs, prescribing physicians, patients, payers) and incorporate input into program plans
- Partner with Commercial Operations and Manufacturing to develop integrated forecasts
- Support opportunity assessments for Business Development, target selection, and pipeline investment decisions
- Collaborate with Research to identify new genetic targets for platform technologies
- Manage project budgets and external vendors for market research and strategic analyses
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in related field; 10+ years related experience (MBA preferred; 8+ years)
- Prior biotech/pharma strategic roles with accountability, urgency, and cross-functional leadership
- Experience evaluating commercial opportunities for rare/ultra-rare therapies
- Experience representing commercial function on program teams
Skills/Abilities:

- Leverage customer/market insights to inform R&D and develop patient- and physician-centric strategies
- Experience in competitive intelligence/landscape assessments
- Budget/vendor management and resource prioritization across initiatives
