Responsibilities:
- Act as a trusted strategic partner to the US Head of Ophthalmology; proactively identify business risks/opportunities and represent Ophthalmology at NAMLT.
- Support development and execution of the overarching US medical strategy/plan for Ophthalmology Therapeutic Area (TA) and align to assigned targets.
- Provide financial oversight of the US Ophthalmology budget (development through execution); may extend to other US Medical areas.
- Own project/program management and lead continuous improvement to remove execution barriers across US Medical.
- Develop clear, visually appealing presentations and communication materials for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support regular Ophthalmology and US Medical reviews and Extended USMLT meetings to ensure progress to annual and long-term goals.
- Orchestrate the Integrated Customer Planning (ICP) process within Ophthalmology and integrate with Global/US ICP strategies.
- Direct operational activities with US Medical Operations and regional/global partners, including external engagements (e.g., ad boards, medical forums) and internal activities (e.g., contracting, audit readiness, material review).
- Manage information flow and communication cascades across matrixed organizations (e.g., NAMLT, NALT) and affiliate/global teams.
- Drive accountability, teamwork, and mutual trust.
Qualifications/Required Skills:
- BA/BS required; advanced degree (MBA, MS, PhD, PharmD) preferred.
- 7+ years relevant pharmaceutical industry experience (e.g., Medical Affairs, Pharmaceutical Operations).
- Proven business acumen incl. financial planning.
- Complex program management; strong organizational/timeline management and leadership; ability to influence without authority.
- Strong communication; build internal/external networks.
- Sound medical-scientific knowledge; accountability track record.
- Ability to work under pressure; fast issue identification and action-item implementation.
- Strong analytical/strategic thinking and problem-solving.
- Advanced computer skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Skills:
- Masterβs/PhD/MBA highly preferred.
- Experience in an alliance; worldwide Medical/Medical Affairs; therapeutic specialty/rare diseases.
- Long-range financial planning; change management.
