Medical Science Liaison, Oncology (Breast/Gyn Focus) – Mid-South (TN/GA/NC/SC)
Role Overview
- Serve as a field-based medical professional with deep content knowledge in specific disease states and therapeutic area landscape.
Responsibilities
- Engage in continuous learning to maintain technical expertise and provide unbiased, accurate, up-to-date medical/scientific information.
- Spend majority of time on customer-facing activities; act as primary interface between Lilly Medical and SEs/CEs to deliver positive customer experience.
- Connect SEs/CEs with Lilly resources/internal partners as appropriate; facilitate collaborative research and external opportunities.
- Demonstrate strategic analysis, planning, and prioritization; implement/evaluate a territory plan; use territory analytics for customer identification and routing.
- Synthesize and communicate actionable customer/clinical insights to internal and cross-functional teams; use good judgment and escalate issues as appropriate.
- Execute role compliantly with governing requirements/laws; demonstrate Team Lilly Behaviors.
Basic Qualifications (Required/Preferred)
- Required: Advanced degree in health sciences (e.g., PharmD, MD, PhD) + 2–3 years relevant clinical or therapeutic area experience (desired).
- Considered: Bachelor’s/Master’s in health sciences (e.g., BSN, RPh, PA, NP) with 5+ years clinical/research/industry experience in relevant therapeutic area.
- Valid US driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Authorized to work in the United States full-time; no visa/work authorization sponsorship.
Additional Skills/Preferences
- Strongly preferred: Oncology experience in Breast/Gynecology Oncology; hospital or outpatient patient experience.
- Intellectual curiosity; ability to comprehend and communicate complex scientific content clearly.
- Experience servicing customers with complex information; ability with demanding clients.
- Strong self-management/multi-tasking; teamwork/interpersonal; advanced presentation and computer skills (literature identification/evaluation).
- Professional networking experience; field-based environment experience; familiarity with academic community/medical education/research processes.
- Strong verbal/written communication; relationship building.
Additional Information
- Ideal: Atlanta/Charlotte/Nashville area with access to hub airport.
- Travel overnight up to 50–70%; work 4–6 weekends/year.
Compensation/Benefits
- Anticipated wage: $151,500–$268,400. Eligible for company bonus and comprehensive benefit program (e.g., 401(k), medical/dental/vision, life insurance, time off, well-being benefits).
