The Associate Director, Medical Impact will develop standards, processes, and frameworks for measuring end-to-end medical impact and care gaps, and create tools to synthesize care-gap insights across Medical Affairs + Health Impact (MHI). Serve as a translator between Business Unit/International Therapeutic Areas (TAs) and the Medical Engagement team, and represent MHI in AbbVie’s LOOP (AI-enabled omnichannel engagement) transformation to integrate care gaps and medical impact into the LOOP business model. Hybrid: 3 days/week on site at headquarters in Mettawa, IL.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate cross-functionally with BU/International TAs to develop care gap and impact capabilities.
- Translate care gap/impact requirements between TAs and Medical Engagement.
- Represent MHI in LOOP strategy/design/implementation.
- Implement standardized processes for measuring medical impact (MHI and LOOP).
- Scale Medical Engagement Blueprint across TAs.
- Partner with RWE and HEOR to operationalize care gap analytics.
- Identify insight sources (datasets) and develop analysis approach.
- Monitor capability rollouts and future wave changes.
- Stay current on industry trends/best practices/regulatory requirements.
- Prepare reports/presentations for stakeholders.
- Continuously improve standards/processes/framework for medical impact measurement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s required; PharmD/PhD/MD/MBA highly preferred.
- 6+ years pharma experience (or 4+ years with a Master’s; 2+ years with a PhD).
- Strong real-world data, data analysis, and machine learning experience.
- 3–4 years Medical Affairs preferred.
- Creative problem-solving; strong decision-making under uncertainty.
- Stakeholder management/leadership in a matrix; strong analytical reasoning/business acumen.
- Excellent interpersonal/organizational skills; ability to present and document complex concepts.
