Position Summary
The Associate Director, Medical Communications supports the development and execution of strategic, integrated medical communication initiatives across marketed products and pipeline indications. Translates complex scientific data into clear, compelling, audience-appropriate communications that support Medical Affairs objectives. Supports key medical congress activities, contributes to scientific narrative development, and ensures consistency, quality, and compliance across medical communications.

Responsibilities
- Assist in creation of integrated medical communications strategy and tactical plans using modern digital channels and tools
- Lead development of field-ready MSL materials (e.g., slide decks and digital MSL tools); partner with MSL training and medical reviewer; manage/streamline MSL repository
- Lead development of tailored materials for other audiences (APPs, RDs, non-expert physicians, PCPs, patient advocacy outreach), including infographics, plain language summaries, short audio/videos, podcasts, and other tools
- Partner cross-functionally to optimize medical digital platforms/channels/tools using functional KPIs
- Assist with internal medical communication materials (e.g., lunch & learn on conference posters and manuscripts); partner with publications counterpart
- Contribute to maintenance of scientific platforms, scientific story, and lexicon for marketed and pipeline indications
- Support GI and Nephrology congress activities (booth/content, coverage, pre-overviews, post-congress reports)
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders as relevant
- Develop and maintain networks of HCP digital opinion leaders

Qualifications
- MS degree; advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, or MD) preferred; 6–8 years Medical Affairs experience in medical/scientific communications, publications, medical information, MSL, or clinical research
- Pharmaceutical company experience desired, including interaction with Field Medical teams
- Strong trust-building collaboration; ability to execute projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines
- Ability to interpret/organize/communicate complex scientific data concisely
- Strong project planning/management
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical/promotional compliance and applicable regulatory guidelines for medical content development
- Attendance at national internal/external meetings and medical congresses
- Customer-centered approach
- Up to 10% travel (overnight and occasional weekend)
