Associate Director (US R&D Operations) responsibilities:
- Lead PMO and project controls for the IPG CAPEX program (integrated scope, schedule, cost, risk, change control, performance reporting), supporting the Project Director
- Establish and maintain effective delivery processes (planning cadence, forecasting, issue/risk escalation, corrective actions) for predictable execution
- Coordinate and integrate delivery across design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness
- Drive stakeholder engagement and communications; prepare concise executive-level updates for governance and steering forums
- Support the Project Director through direct/indirect leadership of CAPEX workstreams/projects, including active construction activities
- Contribute to continuous improvement of project management and controls practices, tools, and templates
- Provide engineering governance and project leadership for operations-driven initiatives (capital and non-capital) across sites
- Lead early project development: define business needs, develop concepts, perform feasibility/estimate work, and build business justification for prioritization/approvals
- Partner with Operations and the IPG program to align priorities, multi-year capital planning, and execution strategy (including operational readiness)
- Manage strategic relationships with design/construction partners to support safe, high-quality, compliant delivery
- Lead project PMO and execution controls activities for CAPEX projects
- Manage and develop engineering teams; ensure necessary skillsets and training
- Develop/maintain capital project plans; execute capital projects and support the IPG capital process
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, on scope, and as designed
- Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, vendors, NN customer base, and other stakeholders
- Provide technical expertise and strategic guidance/support to facility operations, R&D, and EH&S as required
- Manage budgets and expenses for the engineering department and capital projects

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree + 9+ years experience or Master’s degree + 7+ years experience (required)
- Proven operations leadership experience, preferably in multi-site environments
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills; strong leadership/strategic, results-oriented approach
- Experience with project management and process improvement methodologies, change management, and organizational transformation
- Proven track record delivering capital projects on time, within budget, and to required standard
- Familiarity with building codes, life safety, and health & safety regulations
- Preferred: experience as owner’s rep for pharmaceutical/biotech R&D lab design & operations; lab/office space optimization
- Strong leadership and team management skills across distributed teams
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
