Key Responsibilities:
- Provide an objective commercial viewpoint of potential disruptive forces and pending market/competitive drivers using healthcare dynamics and competitive information (commercial, clinical, scientific).
- Lead CI strategy within specified therapeutic area(s) to ensure franchise teams have actionable intelligence by escalating business implications of competitors’ activities and disruptive market events/trends to near- and long-term strategies.
- Drive and execute CI plan by collecting CI from secondary/primary sources, managing external vendors, and synthesizing/disseminating intelligence and implications.
- Coordinate, plan, and execute company-wide CI activities at international & US scientific conferences (~2–3 annually) and consolidate/report critical findings and implications.
- Act as CI expert on appropriate CI applications and internal/external data sources.
- Build collaborative relationships across IMABI, International Immunology brand teams, cross-functional partners, and Affiliates; integrate clinical/medical/access/regulatory/market research perspectives.
- Ensure CI activities follow financial and ethical compliance guidelines.
- Partner with other CI teams to optimize AbbVie’s CI investment.
- Share best practices and lessons learned to grow CI capabilities.
- Manage competitive intelligence research within agreed budgets/timelines and vendors to deliver on time/within budget.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s required (life science/related preferred); MBA/graduate degree preferred; Master’s/PhD in life science a plus.
- 7–9 years in pharma/biotech in commercial/strategy or management consulting; 3+ years of CI experience.
- Global Immunology experience preferred.
Skills/Capabilities (required/preferred):
- Ability to shape decision-making using CI research.
- Strong research tools/techniques (including secondary data), analytical reasoning, curiosity, business acumen, problem-solving creativity.
- Understanding of healthcare market-driving trends; knowledge of brand/portfolio strategy.
- Strong communication (oral/written) and interpersonal skills; PowerPoint/executive presentation expertise.
- Experience in highly matrixed environments; collaborating/influencing cross-functional global/affiliate teams and senior leadership.
- Agile/nimble; negotiate/prioritize workload; lead strategically and build trust/respect.
- Strategic thinker: translate big-picture opportunities into actionable plans.
