Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct extensive searches using industry resources to identify and evaluate potential BD opportunities.
- Construct forecasts, recommendations, and strategic/tactical plans based on business data and market knowledge.
- Develop business cases and support BD transactions (scientific, commercial, and financial considerations).
- Identify business development acquisition and in-licensing opportunities.
- Coordinate search, identification, competitive intelligence, and business case development for potential transactions with External Innovation and Commercial teams.
- Perform in-depth evaluations interpreting competitive landscape and financial data.
- Develop and manage complex revenue & cash flow NPV models and assist with assumptions for commercial opportunity modeling; work with Finance on forecasting and deal evaluation models.
- Maintain awareness of product strategy to assess fit of potential candidates.
- Stay abreast of emerging healthcare/pharmaceutical trends and assess potential impact on business strategy.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years progressively responsible experience in consulting, venture capital, or investment banking focused on valuation and strategic transactions in therapeutics/biotech/pharma.
- M.D., relevant advanced scientific degree (e.g., Ph.D.), or MBA (or functional equivalent) required.
- Experience in rare disease and CNS space.
Must possess / Required skills
- Scientific knowledge of CNS/Neurology and Orphan/Rare disease, including R&D, Clinical Development, and Commercial/New Product Planning.
- Extensive experience developing and using Excel-based models and complex financial models.
- Experience in competitive analysis, market research/analysis, and new product development.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with strong PowerPoint presentation skills.
- Excellent analytical ability; can draw conclusions and make recommendations from data.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and communicate clearly in large-scale settings.
- Critical thinking at the right level of granularity for executive decision-making.
- Strong financial analysis/research and ability to translate into strategic recommendations.
- Ability to work in a results-oriented, project-driven environment with tight timelines.
- Excellent written/verbal, organizational, and analytical skills; strong database skills.
- Ability to travel.
