Responsibilities:
- Lead cross-functional evaluations of therapeutic drug programs from preclinical through clinical stages (clinical benefit, mechanism, preclinical data, manufacturing, regulatory strategy, clinical development path, IP, and commercial potential) and guide diligence and βgo-no goβ decision-making.
- Lead diligence teams with search/evaluation, legal, finance, commercial, clinical, and scientific partners to support business development proposals to senior management.
- Support negotiations in business transactions; lead term sheet and contract negotiations for academic licenses and smaller outlicensing/sublicensing opportunities with autonomy.
- Participate in strategy planning for financial investment trade-off decisions; help train junior team members on deal processes and internal governance.
- Build business cases/PowerPoint materials with R&D and Search/Evaluation for R&D committees and lead deal governance presentations; present key deal aspects to senior management.
Qualifications & Required/Preferred Skills:
- Bachelorβs degree required; advanced degree strongly preferred.
- 7+ years relevant experience required (pharmaceutical/biotech preferred; advanced degree may substitute).
- Strong communication and leadership to lead diligence teams; demonstrated experience presenting to senior management.
- Strong record preparing deal comparables and crafting deal terms.
- Competency negotiating academic licenses and small outlicensing/sublicensing opportunities.
- Proven ability to lead deals through all stages with guidance.
- Analytical skills for financial evaluations; strong presentation skills.
- Ability to identify/prioritize risks, weigh benefits, and frame decisions for senior management; navigate internal dynamics.
- Experience in a matrix organization preferred; ability to motivate others, manage multiple projects in a rapidly evolving environment.
