Job Summary (Primary Function)
Area Director (AD) is a field-based leadership position aligned with a specified geography, reporting to the National Director, Oncology Clinical Nurse Educator (OCNE) Team. The primary function includes coaching, training, and mentoring the OCNE team to promote excellence in field execution. The AD is accountable for assigned team performance in alignment with product strategy and oversight of activities in accordance with regulatory and health care compliance guidelines.
Essential Functions (Key responsibilities)
- Demonstrate understanding of the evolving oncology marketplace and regional influences.
- Screen, interview, hire, and retain qualified OCNE team talent from diverse backgrounds.
- Support OCNEs in developing and maintaining a strategic territory plan.
- Evaluate and coach OCNEs on product knowledge, disease states, and oncology landscape.
- Lead OCNEs to provide on-label, company-approved education in an inclusive environment.
- Collaborate on creation/implementation of OCNE educational and field execution strategies.
- Collaborate on annual performance goals and objectives with the National Director.
- Provide career development support, ensuring inclusivity and equal access.
- Participate in maintaining compliant customer-facing team collaborative strategies.
- Complete administrative duties (e.g., engagement reports, expense reports, trainings).
- Consistently achieve results and hold self accountable.
Qualifications
- Degree in nursing or equivalent experience (advanced nursing qualifications preferred).
- Active RN license or Advanced Practice License (NP/Clinical Nurse Specialist) required.
- Extensive hematology/oncology experience across clinical practice and pharmaceutical settings.
- Minimum relevant experience in disease state and product-related education (senior level preferred).
- People management/pharmaceutical industry experience preferred (not required).
- Oncology certification preferred (not required).
- Ability to develop partnerships and work cross-functionally.
- Travel up to 50% of the time.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database applications (or equivalent).
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (or equivalent transportation).
Compensation Range
- $244,039 - $262,038.00
