Role Summary
The Analyst II, Business Development supports the Business Development Team and other corporate leaders with a wide range of projects including assessment of industry trends, research and data analysis of BD opportunities across therapeutic areas, contract review and negotiation, and organization of information around current and potential future alliances.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed scientific, commercial, and clinical analysis of new asset opportunities
- Engage with cross-functional teams in conducting due diligence of business ideas to ensure proper fit within the broader organization
- Present decks summarizing analyses and recommendations relating to the business development landscape for particular indications
- Gather competitive analysis and lead assigned secondary market research
- Perform strategic and financial analyses, decision support, and analysis of new business initiatives
- Initiate and further develop business relationships
- Participate in structuring, drafting, and negotiating term sheets and agreements, partnering with Legal, BD, Finance, and others
- Contribute to a culture of innovation, translation, and entrepreneurship within Tarsus
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Life Sciences (biochemistry, biology, bioengineering, or related field) or master's in biotechnology
- 2β4 years of work experience in biotech or pharma innovation, business development, life sciences consulting, equity research, or buy-side role a plus
- Self-motivation and an affinity for a start-up, entrepreneurial environment
- Creativity, problem-solving, and a can-do approach
- Ability to critically evaluate scientific literature
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels
- Ophthalmic industry experience a plus
- Initiative and self-starter attitude
