Role Summary

The Account Specialist role promotes a product to community practices and health systems. The role involves developing and maintaining relationships with accounts in areas such as neurology, pain medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation, primary care, and pharmacy, across community/private practices, hospitals/health systems, academic medical centers, and government accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a product to meet/exceed sales goals in community/private practices as well as hospitals/health systems.
  • Identify/uncover customer needs (training, clinical, operational, reimbursement) and address with appropriate AbbVie resources.
  • Provide education and clinical/injection training for residents, fellows, and other key hospital personnel.
  • Deliver expert anatomical/procedural information and training, including appropriate terminology to train injection paradigms/postures with relevant insights and considerations.
  • Utilize AbbVie's sales and data resources to enhance productivity and growth while implementing the U.S. Marketing Plan.
  • Collaborate with other Account Specialists to promote the product for approved indications and execute trainings within hospital/health system accounts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.
  • Equivalent industry experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five (5) years of technical experience with three (3) or more years in sales preferred; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Experience with Buy & Bill and/or Specialty Pharmacy products preferred, in both health systems and private practice.
  • Ability to lift/pull 25–100 lb. training models and meet hospital credentialing/vaccination requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and meet safe driving requirements.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to cover territory, including overnight attendance at training events and sales meetings.
  • Ability to drive a personal auto or company car, or operate a powered equipment vehicle.
  • History of strong sales performance, preferably in clinical/technical/consultative sales with multiple decision makers; ability to manage a complex sale and communicate/train to diverse audiences.
  • Must satisfy HCIR credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations in the assigned territory; must be in good standing or eligible to obtain these credentials.
  • HCIR credentialing may include background checks, drug screens, immunization proofs, fingerprinting, and state/city licenses; responsible for satisfying all requirements.
