Position Summary:
Director, Access & Reimbursement (DAR) leads and coaches a team of Access & Reimbursement Managers (ARMs) responsible for access & fulfillment activities across nephrology healthcare provider accounts and execution of the patient access field reimbursement strategy. Ensures providers, patients, and caregivers have information/tools/resources to start and stay on therapy. Fosters compliant communications across Patient Experience, Specialty Pharmacy, Market Access, and Field Sales.

Responsibilities:
- Hire, mentor, develop, and lead a field access & reimbursement team in local geography.
- Use KPIs/analytics to optimize field execution; create long/short-term strategy and manage execution in a fast-paced environment.
- Build regional vision/culture, motivate performance, develop customer relationships, and achieve team goals.
- Deliver performance management, coaching, oversight, and training to ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies.
- Coach for maximum patient access expediting; address access & fulfillment obstacles (benefit, specialty pharmacy, REMS).
- Develop regional business plan to improve patient initiation and pull-through metrics; be an expert in product access/reimbursement and train the team.
- Ensure cross-functional collaboration with field sales and leadership; establish ARM–hub services–REMS–specialty pharmacy–payer account communication cadence.
- Support via field time/virtual calls; resolve issues; provide direction/feedback.
- Analyze regional performance; identify ARM capability gaps and partner to close them.

Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent education/experience).
- 10+ years pharma/biotech or related; specialty pharmaceutical, nephrology, rare disease, REMS preferred.
- 5+ years specialty medicines with deep access & reimbursement landscape knowledge (HUBs, payers, specialty pharmacies).
- 3+ years field reimbursement manager; 3+ years first-line leadership with people/capability development success.

Additional Skills/Experience (Preferred):
- Cross-functional training/access marketing/operations/payer project experience.
- Experience with access complexities for new-to-market medications; specialty pharmacy network experience.
- Reimbursement knowledge (commercial, Medicare Part D, VA) and education on benefit verification, prior auth, appeals, denials, letters of medical necessity, pre-determination.
- Computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint); ability to educate/resolve virtually; strong organization, collaboration, and written/verbal communication.
- Field-based: live in/near assigned region with major airport access; valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle; travel up to 50%.
- Essential: face-to-face work/onsite in San Diego and ongoing credentialing for healthcare facilities/customer sites within territory.

Compensation:
- Target base pay: $189,000.00–$246,000.00 (plus short-term incentive and long-term incentive/company stock).
