Position Summary:
The Director, Access & Reimbursement (DAR) leads and coaches a team of Access & Reimbursement Managers (ARMs) responsible for access and fulfillment activities across nephrology healthcare provider accounts and execution of the patient access field reimbursement strategy. Ensures providers, patients, and caregivers have the information, tools, and resources to start and stay on therapy, and fosters compliant cross-functional communications (Patient Experience, Specialty Pharmacy, Market Access, Field Sales).

Responsibilities:
- Hire, mentor, develop, and lead the field access & reimbursement team in local geography.
- Optimize field execution using KPIs and analytics.
- Develop long- and short-term strategic plans; ensure seamless execution.
- Build regional vision and team culture; motivate performance and achieve goals.
- Manage performance and provide coaching; ensure team compliance with regulations/internal policies.
- Identify and address access/fulfillment obstacles (pharmacy benefit, specialty pharmacy, REMS).
- Create regional business plans to optimize patient initiation and pull-through metrics.
- Serve as expert for product access/reimbursement; train and direct the team.
- Ensure cross-functional collaboration with field sales and leadership.
- Establish communication cadence across ARMs, hub services, REMS, specialty pharmacy, payer account team.
- Support development and issue resolution via field time and virtual calls.
- Create pull-through access/fulfillment messages in customer engagement.
- Analyze regional performance and address gaps in ARM capabilities.

Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelorโ€™s degree (related field) required.
- 10 years pharma/biotech or related experience; nephrology/rare disease/REMS preferred.
- 5+ years specialty medicines access & reimbursement landscape (HUBs, payers, specialty pharmacies).
- 3+ years field reimbursement manager.
- 3+ years first-line people leadership with coaching/capability development.

Additional Skills/Experience (required/preferred):
- Cross-functional leadership in training/operations/payer projects.
- Experience managing access complexities for new-to-market medications.
- Knowledge of specialty pharmacy products/networks.
- Strong understanding of commercial/private and government reimbursement (e.g., Medicare Part D, VA).
- Experience educating on reimbursement processes (benefit verification, prior authorization, appeals, denials, letters of medical necessity, pre-determination).
- Proficient with Excel/PowerPoint; strong communication and organization; ability to multitask.
- Field-based role: live within the region/adjacent area with major airport access; valid driverโ€™s license and reliable vehicle; travel up to 50% (predominantly within region).
