Role Summary
Waste Water Operator - Days. Perrigo Nutritional’s in Georgia, VT is hiring two Wastewater Operators (one full-time, one part-time) with a rotating schedule. The role involves operating and maintaining the treatment facility to meet regulatory and corporate requirements, monitoring processes, performing daily lab testing, and repairing equipment.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain the wastewater treatment facility to meet regulatory, corporate, and Perrigo requirements
- Monitor and interpret process indicators and communicate to supervisor or appropriate management
- Complete daily laboratory testing as needed
- Repair and maintain all equipment at the wastewater facility
- Monitor the treatment process (collect wastewater samples, measure pH, conductivity, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, temperature)
- Operate equipment in the WWTP area (pumps, blowers, mixers, aerators) to regulate water and operating conditions
- Make process changes to ensure final discharge limitations are met by following instructions and interpreting daily lab results
- Communicate with WWTP and Production supervision about changes in the process and equipment; inform leadership of any safety concerns
- Perform laboratory testing and instrument calibration as needed
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment
- diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions, repair, weld, and rebuild equipment
- Maintain the buildings and grounds at the treatment facility
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prefer a two-year degree or equivalent experience in facility maintenance or operating a treatment facility (may be substituted)
- State of Vermont Pollution Abatement Facility Operator License required. Minimum grade 1 ID
- Strong mechanical background and ability to troubleshoot/repair mechanical equipment
- Ability to be trained to perform daily WWTP lab analysis and interpret results

Additional Requirements
- On-call schedule required one week per month with off-hour coverage and weekend shifts; on-call time is compensated
- Rotation: 3 weeks per month of normal 8-hour shifts M-F between 10:00am and 6:00pm; 1 week per month on-call with Saturday/Sunday shift
