Role Summary
Maintenance Technician II responsible for ensuring reliable operation of equipment used in the Galaxy filling process at TakedaβΓΓ΄s Round Lake, IL site. Supports and maintains equipment across the Mix, Fill, and Finishing complexes to keep manufacturing lines properly maintained and ready for planned production. This is a night-shift role (6:00 PM βΓΓ¬ 6:30 AM) on a 2-2-3 schedule.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and monitor equipment during production to identify and resolve issues before they impact output.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and repairs for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Respond to equipment issues on an emergency basis, including overtime, weekends, and during plant shutdowns as needed.
- Familiarize with corporate specifications, plant SOPs for the Galaxy process, and local GMP requirements, ensuring they are consistently followed.
- Adhere to all plant safety rules and promote safe work practices, including directing others in proper safety procedures.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement, working independently and with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to resolve issues and enhance performance.
- Understand corporate specifications and plant SOPs governing the Galaxy process and local GMP.
- Monitor assigned manufacturing lines and communicate with manufacturing to reduce downtime.
- Provide high-level troubleshooting to repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Review PMs, verify parts are in stock, and complete PM tasks.
- Build and rebuild machine assemblies.
- Communicate equipment issues and work status to supervisor, manufacturing, and management per Stop and Fix guidelines.
- Initiate work orders using the JD Edwards (JDE) CMMS system.
- Perform PM work and assign tasks related to the Galaxy process to maintain equipment reliability and efficiency; complete related documentation in a timely manner.
- Document problems, breakdowns, or alarms in JDE or downtime-tracking systems; initiate work orders and provide documentation to resolve issues; review equipment trends to prevent recurrence.
- Share knowledge and train less experienced technicians in the Galaxy process and related equipment, including safety and 6S.
- Learn to handle robots in normal production modes; troubleshoot issues affecting robots, machine output, and quality defects.
- Advance knowledge and capabilities through additional training.
- Solicit help from Lead technicians and engineering when needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; plus 2+ years of experience, or Associates degree or higher with 1+ years of related work experience.
- 3+ years of manufacturing systems experience.
- Prior experience in an FDA-regulated environment.
- Understanding of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic drawings; experience with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Willingness to develop an understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLC).
- Must not be allergic to Cephalosporin or related products and minerals.
- Will travel up to 5% of the time.
Additional Requirements
- May wear PPE and other cleanroom garments daily (safety shoes, safety glasses, aprons, face shields, lab coats, gowns, hair nets, gloves, hearing protection).
- Must remove make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish, and artificial nails in the manufacturing environment.
- Work in a cold, wet environment and on multiple shifts, including weekends, or with supplemental hours.
- Work around chemicals that may require respiratory protection.
- Ability to work across a 24/7 manufacturing operation; may require non-traditional hours or overtime.
- Physical ability to carry, lift, push/pull up to 100 lbs with assistance; stand and walk for extended periods (8βΓΓ¬12 hours) and maneuver across the site; may involve bending, twisting, reaching overhead, and squatting.
- Indoor working conditions with potential exposure to moving equipment and confined spaces.
