Responsibilities:
- Lead the Medical Affairs function at Alumis, including developing and implementing Medical Affairs strategies and activities to support development of lead assets
- Continue to build and scale the Medical Affairs organization
- Develop and present Medical Affairs operational plans to Development and Executive management
- Represent the company externally
- Direct and oversee all aspects of Medical Affairs and pre-launch needs
- Lead medical launch preparations for the lead psoriasis candidate, ensuring the scientific narrative is robust and well-vetted
- As a member of the Development Leadership Team, run and continue to build the Medical Affairs function
- Build and lead a best-in-class global medical affairs team to support launches of multiple indications (focus on psoriasis)
- Develop KPIs and generate analytical reports related to Medical Affairs plans and Medical Science Liaison (MSL) activities
- Develop and implement Medical Communication and Disease State Awareness strategies
- Partner with KOLs to gather information on therapeutic-area issues and questions
- Collaborate with the Commercial team to develop medically accurate educational material for providers and patients
- Provide direction/input into reimbursement and market-access strategies
- Partner with clinical development and commercial leadership to define strategic direction, evaluate alternatives, identify competitive issues, and develop operating plans
- Foster relationships with academic/clinical experts, publishers, and medical/patient associations and other stakeholders
- Develop and manage departmental budgets aligned to organizational financial objectives
- Oversee publication strategy; present clinical data at major congresses (e.g., AAD, EADV, ACR) and in high-impact peer-reviewed journals
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 10+ years of professional experience in Biotech/Pharma in Medical Affairs
- 5+ years of people leadership experience
- Understanding of government and industry guidelines/regulations/laws for scientific/medical exchange and communication
- Ability to lead by example, attract/develop talent, build partnerships, and create a collaborative culture
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
- Proven ability to develop internal relationships in a matrixed environment and external relationships with KOLs and industry experts
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with clarity
- Ability to operate in a compliance-driven environment with tight deadlines
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Travel 25–40% may be required
- Regular presence at San Francisco Bay Area headquarters required
- Extensive prior dermatology experience, particularly psoriasis (required)
- Advanced degree (PharmD, Ph.D., or MD) required; MD preferred
Preferred:
- Prior experience in SLE
- Prior experience taking a Phase 3 product through a successful launch
Compensation:
- Salary range: $315,000–$370,000 USD annually (estimate; may vary by compensation practices).
