Role Summary
The VP, Global Medical Lead (GML) Respiratory (TSLP) is a key senior business leadership role, reporting to the VP Global Medical Affairs, Specialty Care, and a key member of GSK’s Global Medical Affairs, Specialty Care Leadership Team. The GML has full responsibility for the Global Medical Strategy for TSLP and leads the translation of science to shape the practice of medicine and specialty care to deliver positive health impact for patients by providing healthcare decision-makers with evidence and medical insights related to Development and Commercialization strategies. The role directs the Medical strategic direction of TSLP, chairs the Global Asset Medical Leadership Team, and partners with markets, Commercial, and R&D to deliver value for patients across the lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Lead both the cross-functional product medical team (PMT) and product development at the Global level
- As convenor and chair of the PMT, jointly accountable for developing the global medical brand strategy and plans for TSLP
- Set direction along the strategic framework of the medical brand plan, including setting scientific objectives, owning the medical narrative and integrated communication plan
- Direct and coordinate global resources to generate data and content to support priority markets, leveraging the Global operations and Global data teams
- Represent medical in cross-functional strategy meetings and workshops, offering options for innovative medical strategy for the Integrated Asset Plan at PDT and PCT meetings
- Provide focused support at key inflection points during development (e.g., launch)
- As Lead of PMT and medical product team at Global level, represent the voice of the Chief Patient Officer (CPO) Organization for TSLP
- Accountable for all medical activities related to product development at the global level
- Lead, coach, and mentor direct reports supporting the PMT in developing medical brand strategy and plans, and execute/manage global tactics
- Address broader holistic disease area considerations as they arise by convening other relevant PMLs ad-hoc
- Maximize the positive impact for patients and GSK from early development to maturity
- Partner with Development and Commercial leads to inform medicines vision, development strategy and clinical development in early phases
- Incorporate medical insights from priority markets into PMT to inform evidence generation, product development, and asset strategy
- Lead PMT in development and delivery of Global medical product strategy and deliverables enabling prioritized countries to execute locally
- Ensure evidence generation plans address unmet needs and prioritised gaps, maximizing asset competitiveness from launch through lifecycle
- Maintain patient-centered focus in all activities
- Engage with R&D, Commercial and LOCs to maintain cross-functional collaboration and accountability
- Understand external environment and competitor landscape to develop a clear medical strategy
Qualifications
- Required: Medical Doctor, Pharmacist or PhD
- Required: Therapy Area experience/expertise in Respiratory
- Required: In-country experience as a Therapy Area Medical Lead or Country Medical Director
- Required: Experience directing the strategy of an asset at a global level
- Required: Experience working in clinical development
- Required: Expertise in launching an asset at local and global level
- Required: Asset lifecycle management expertise at local and global level
- Required: Expertise in Data Generation for asset development
- Required: Experience with omnichannel strategies
- Preferred: Understanding and knowledge of how to use clinical data and implement clinical studies
- Preferred: Interaction with external experts (physicians) requiring medical knowledge and clinical judgement
- Preferred: Keeping up to date on scientific data and competitive intelligence, translating insights into action
