Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the companyβs contracting function; develop scalable contracting processes, templates, policies, and governance frameworks.
- Serve as lead legal advisor for strategic transactions (structure, draft, negotiate); lead due diligence and support post-transaction integration.
- Develop a vision for a best-in-class legal and compliance function leveraging technology (including AI).
- Establish legal operations best practices (matter management, budgeting, systems/technology use, outside counsel oversight).
- Partner with executive leadership on growth and transformation initiatives; drive stakeholder alignment and change adoption.
- Build trusted relationships across the organization; provide periodic strategic updates to the Board of Directors.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team; foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Act as part of the Legal & Compliance leadership team to provide efficient, risk-based, business-oriented support.
Required Qualifications:
- JD from an accredited law school; active bar membership in good standing.
- 12+ years healthcare compliance experience in biotech/pharma/medical devices/life sciences; demonstrated legal operations and contracting process design/implementation/enhancement.
- Experience in a dynamic, small but fast-growing biotech environment; proven change management track record.
- Experience structuring/drafting/negotiating licensing, M&A, and other complex strategic transactions.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal skills, problem-solving, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work effectively across functions/levels and with external parties.
- Strong oral/written communication and presentation skills.
- Direct leadership/team management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SEC filings and SEC compliance; capital markets transactions (equity offerings); Internal Audit/SOX knowledge.
Compensation:
- Estimated pay range: $321,000β$361,000 USD.
Work Location and Conditions:
- Remote within the United States (not considering AK, AZ, HI, MI, TN).
- Travel to Cambridge, MA several times per year; attend events as needed.
- Must have a work setup enabling privacy, reliable internet/phone, and video conferencing.
