Associate Director, FP&A

Key Role and Responsibilities:
- Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting; coordinate cross-functional inputs, set timelines/assumptions, and ensure forecasts reflect current plans.
- Own monthly FP&A reporting and performance management (actual vs. budget/forecast), KPI reporting, identify key drivers/trends, and share actionable insights.
- Partner with R&D, Clinical, G&A, Commercial and others to track spend, identify cost drivers (incl. CRO/vendor costs), and provide financial analysis for decision-making.
- Develop/maintain driver-based financial models linking operational assumptions to financial performance (headcount, departmental expenses, clinical programs, CRO/vendor costs, other spend).
- Lead headcount and operating expense planning/forecasting with HR and functional leaders.
- Support long-range planning (collect/validate operating assumptions; ensure on-time submissions).
- Support development/maintenance of commercial forecast with Commercial and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Manage/improve FP&A systems/processes (data integration, reporting structures, automation, forecasting methodologies) to improve accuracy/efficiency.
- Partner with Accounting to align FP&A reporting/forecasts with actual results.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis/modeling for operational decisions and special projects.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA or related advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years FP&A/financial planning (or related finance).
- 5+ years in biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry with clinical studies and drug development lifecycle knowledge.
- Proven budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting experience.
- Experience partnering with R&D, Clinical, G&A to track spend/KPIs and cost drivers.
- FP&A systems, data integration, reporting, and process automation experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong financial modeling/analysis; advanced Excel.
- Strong FP&A principles; ability to identify trends/variances/opportunities.
- Excellent communication; explain finance concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
- Strong business partnering; influence without authority.
- Detail-oriented; data accuracy; independent, organized; manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to improve processes and bring structure to ambiguity.

Compensation/Benefits (if explicitly stated):
- Salary range: $170,000–$210,000 annually; annual bonus opportunity; eligibility for Equity Incentive Plan.
