Vice President, GPO, Pricing & Contracting, and Strategic Engagement
Responsibilities:
- Build and lead commercial relationships with consolidated retina provider organizations (PE-backed MSOs, IDN/ASC-owned practices, retina networks, ophthalmology-aligned GPOs).
- Build and run a field-based Strategic Account team engaging C-suite/business leadership (CEO/COO/CFO/practice ownership or IDN/ASC executives) to negotiate GPO membership and organization-level purchasing agreements for a Medicare Part B buy-and-bill retina therapy.
- Own segmentation/prioritization and develop account-specific strategic plans; monitor consolidation trends and adjust strategy.
- Lead negotiation/execution of GPO membership agreements and purchasing agreements (volume commitments, rebate/tier structures, administrative fees); own terms end-to-end aligned to pricing strategy/profitability.
- Partner with Legal, Finance, and National Payer Accounts to ensure contract compliance with applicable government pricing rules.
- Provide executive/Board updates; coordinate with National Payer Accounts, Trade/Distribution, and field Sales to drive physician-level adoption.
Qualifications:
- Required: 12+ years in pharma/biotech GPO/strategic or key account management; 5+ years as Director/Senior Director+ with direct C-suite negotiation ownership.
- Required: Experience negotiating GPO membership or large multi-site purchasing agreements in buy-and-bill specialty/biologics.
- Strongly preferred: Retina/ophthalmology experience; familiarity with PE-backed MSO/IDN/ASC retina landscape.
- Required: Proven ability to build/lead a field-based strategic account team; deep GPO contracting mechanics knowledge; executive presence/trust-building with physician group C-suite.
- Education: Bachelorβs degree required; MBA/healthcare-related advanced degree a plus.
Preferred:
- Existing relationships with retina networks/MSOs/ophthalmology GPO execs; experience with first-in-class/category launch; familiarity with 340B/GPO government pricing implications.
