Vice President, Federal Government Affairs & Policy

Role: Vice President of Federal Government Affairs & Policy, leading BioMarin's US advocacy to shape legislation impacting rare disease therapies. Responsibilities: develop and execute federal policy strategies supporting innovation, patient access, and R&D incentives; influence legislation on drug pricing, reimbursement, FDA regulation, orphan drug policies, and healthcare reforms; engage with Congress, federal agencies, and stakeholders; oversee policy materials, coalition strategies, and BioMarin’s PAC; collaborate internally across legal, medical, regulatory, and communications teams. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (JD, MPP, MPH, MBA) preferred; 15+ years in federal health policy or biotech advocacy; proven experience influencing legislation and managing external lobbying; deep knowledge of US federal legislative/regulatory processes, healthcare reimbursement, and orphan drug regulations; strong executive communication, bipartisan relationship-building, and strategic thinking skills.
