Position Summary
- Provide senior leadership for early cancer detection data science and bioinformatics initiatives supporting blood-based, multi-analyte diagnostic technologies. Own strategy and execution for scalable, production-grade computational systems.
Job Responsibilities
- Oversee design, implementation, reliability, and scalability of bioinformatics and data engineering pipelines integrating sequencing, laboratory systems, and clinical data.
- Lead development, orchestration, and production deployment of bioinformatics workflows for early detection assays.
- Establish and enforce canonical data models, metric definitions, dataset versioning, and change control across research, validation, and production.
- Ensure data integrity, auditability, traceability, and compliance with GxP/regulatory expectations.
- Define cloud/hybrid compute strategies for high-throughput, reproducible execution, and model retraining.
- Own SLAs, uptime, monitoring, alerting, and assay turnaround time for production pipelines supporting clinical reporting.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing informatics/bioinformatics team.
- Set OKRs, budgets, roadmaps, and operating cadence; establish governance models and performance metrics.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Data Science/Bioinformatics/Biostatistics/CS/Biomedical Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years building and operating production-grade analytics/bioinformatics solutions in diagnostics/medical devices/pharma/high-throughput labs.
- Expert in Python, SQL; ETL/ELT, orchestration, APIs, scalable workflows.
- Extensive NGS/bioinformatics pipeline experience (Illumina).
- Regulated environment experience with GxP, CLIA, CAP, FDA quality systems.
- Proven leadership managing technical teams and cross-functional delivery.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Onsite Phoenix, AZ; regular in-person presence.
Preferred Qualifications
- DRAGEN workflows and advanced sequencing analytics.
- AWS (SageMaker, S3, Athena); AWS HealthOmics preferred.
- Integrating data from LIMS, instruments, MES/LES, environmental monitoring.
- Knowledge of ISO 13485, 21 CFR 820, MDSAP, IVDR (data/documentation).
