Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, execute, and evolve a comprehensive healthcare compliance program aligned with business objectives and legal requirements for cell and gene therapy.
- Advise the business on compliance and risk mitigation for anti-kickback, false claims, anti-corruption, the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, and transparency laws.
- Serve as Chair of the Compliance Committee and as Data Privacy Officer.
- Provide regular Compliance Program updates to executive leadership and the Audit Committee.
- Review business plans and development opportunities for compliance risks.
- Build trusted relationships with commercial and clinical stakeholders as a strategic advisor.
- Reinforce a culture of integrity; encourage open communication and employee reporting without retaliation.
- Oversee compliance education on the Code of Business Conduct & Ethics, company policies, and emerging risks.
- Conduct data-driven audits/risk assessments; track corrective actions to strengthen controls.
- Manage and conduct compliance investigations and ensure corrective/preventive actions.
- Monitor regulatory/code changes and enforcement trends; advise on required adaptations.
- Advise the Board, Chief Legal Officer, executives, and other functions on compliance and risk mitigation.
- Benchmark best practices with outside counsel, regulators, and industry groups.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Juris Doctorate or advanced degree a plus.
- Cell and gene therapy experience required.
- Typically 7+ years (or equivalent) in pharma/biotech compliance.
- Knowledge of effective compliance program requirements (OIG Guidance; U.S. Sentencing Guidelines).
- Experience implementing Codes (PhRMA, EFPIA, IFPMA).
- Knowledge of pharma legal/regulatory framework (sales/marketing, promotion, clinical trials, patient privacy, False Claims Act, anti-bribery/anti-corruption).
- Business-focused, solution-oriented; excellent written/oral/presentation skills.
- Ability to work across management levels; strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently; strong partnering, influencing, judgment, prioritization, and attention to detail.
