Role Summary
Vertex Spring 2026 Co-op, Biopharmaceutical Sciences Small Molecule
Responsibilities
- Develop scalable processes to deliver drug substance and drug product with acceptable purity, bioavailability, and stability to enable pre-clinical and clinical evaluation, and commercialization of small molecule drug candidates.
- Work on projects that focus on advancing capabilities in manufacturing, measurement, modeling, and operations related to the development of pharmaceutical products across various functional areas.
- Engage in mentoring relationships with industrial experts and gain hands-on experience in laboratory and manufacturing environments to understand core aspects of pharmaceutical manufacturing and product development.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field
- Legal authorization to work in the United States (Vertex does not sponsor internships for this part of the organization)
- Must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before June 2026
- Available to work full-time, 40 hours per week from January – June 2026

- Analytical development concepts and techniques (spectroscopic, chromatographic, and solid-state characterization)
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and product quality considerations
- Collaboration across disciplines and ability to work in lab and manufacturing environments
