Venue Strategy Manager, Global Meetings Management
Responsibilities
- Lead venue strategy, hotel sourcing, contracting, and supplier relationship management for Amgen’s U.S. Commercial internal meetings (sales meetings, incentive programs, executive leadership events).
- Venue Strategy & Planning: Partner on venue strategy and execution; develop hotel/preferred city strategies; forecast venue needs; improve value across portfolio.
- Stakeholder Management: Advise meeting sponsors and senior leadership on venue strategy, selection, and contract negotiations; collaborate with Meeting Managers, logistics agencies, AV partners, and suppliers to support attendee experience and execution.
- Venue Selection, Contracting & Governance: Oversee hotel contracting aligned to financial protection, risk mitigation, cancellation exposure, attrition management, and supplier performance; lead sourcing and negotiations; manage RFPs, evaluations, supplier negotiations, and recommendations; negotiate pricing, concessions, attrition/cancellation clauses; develop and manage multi-year agreements; ensure compliance with policies and financial objectives.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Primary relationship manager for hotel chains and destination/civic partners; monitor supplier performance.
- Program Optimization & Innovation: Use meetings/spend data to identify trends and efficiencies; improve processes and negotiation strategies; partner cross-functionally on long-term planning.
Basic Qualifications
- High school/GED + 15 years OR Associate’s + 10 years OR Bachelor’s + 8 years in hotel sourcing, venue strategy, strategic meetings management, hospitality, or related.
Preferred Qualifications
- Present recommendations to senior leadership; experience with large Commercial/executive/incentive meetings; negotiate hotel contracts and multi-year agreements; partner with senior leaders; strong supplier management/negotiation; knowledge of industry trends/sourcing/contracting; life sciences/healthcare regulated-industry experience; CVENT or other meeting management technologies.
