Operations
Essential functions:
- Install, maintain, operate, calibrate, repair, and troubleshoot refrigeration, air conditioning, air volume equipment, and associated control systems.
- Perform HVAC maintenance and ensure compliance with operating procedures, Good Manufacturing Procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Monitor BAS and lyophilization/manufacturing/research environment systems; operate BAS terminal to monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain performance following change control.
- Troubleshoot HVAC systems to maintain temperature, humidity, and airflow; respond to alarms and keep records/logs (cGMP compliant).
- Inspect/replace HVAC filters; clean HVAC coils/evaporators/condeners; repair/adjust refrigeration systems to maintain design parameters.
- Use recovery/recycling/reclaiming equipment; obtain required certification.
- Assist with safety permits, department training, and participate in HAZOPS, waste walkthroughs, Kaizen, and Lean/Six Sigma/quality/safety/environment initiatives.

Required education/experience:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Universal Refrigerant Certification.
- Plus one of the following:
- Trade school (>=6 months/650 hours) + at least 3 years recent full-time HVAC/Refrigeration mechanic experience (incl. servicing >=20-ton systems/low-temp systems and interfacing with automated controls), OR
- DOL-approved A/C & Refrigeration Mechanic Apprenticeship, OR
- Equivalent verified military training + 3 years recent full-time experience, OR
- Held Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Mechanic role within last 7 years (West Point, PA), OR
- Trade school (>=3 months/325 hours) + 5 years experience, OR
- 10 years recent full-time experience with no formal education.

Desirable:
- HVAC/Refrigeration/DDC vendor training; experience with centrifugal chillers/cascade systems/screw compressors/DOC; testing/adjusting/balancing; calibrating instrumentation.

Special skills/abilities:
- Read refrigeration/HVAC drawings and control schematics; analyze and correct problems; upload/download BAS programs.
- Mechanical aptitude; complete Universal Technician certification (40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F).

Required tools/equipment knowledge:
- Oxyacetylene torch, cleaning/measurement tools, vacuum pumps, leak detection/reclaiming/recycling/recovery systems, BAS/CRI.
