Role Summary

Utilities Operator II responsible for maintaining and repairing critical utility systems to ensure uninterrupted Biologics manufacturing operations. Work involves HVAC, refrigeration, boiler, chiller, cooling tower, pumps and drives, water pretreatment equipment, and related mechanical, pipefitting, plumbing, or electrical trades.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor HVAC, refrigeration, boiler, chiller, cooling tower, pumps and drives, WFI, pure steam, and chemical or water pretreatment equipment.
  • Respond to trouble calls, investigate alarms, perform daily rounds, and inspect operating equipment.
  • Read and record values from equipment instrumentation; read electronic schematics; read mechanical schematics and piping diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Read, write, and utilize drawings, mathematics, and handbook formulas; work in a clean room environment.
  • Use basic hand tools and possess basic computer skills.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; complete required documentation promptly.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

Qualifications

  • Required: 3–5 years of utility work or preventive maintenance in utilities; HS diploma, technical school, or military training and experience in a relevant field.
  • Preferred: experience in a biologics/manufacturing environment; familiarity with clean room operations.

Skills

  • Technical aptitude across mechanical, piping, plumbing, and electrical trades
  • Ability to read and interpret instrumentation, schematics, and diagrams
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with ability to work in a regulated environment

Education

  • High School diploma required; technical school or military training in relevant field preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • Comfortable working on-site in a manufacturing/clean room setting; ability to respond to alarms and troubleshoot in a fast-paced environment.
