Role Summary

Senior Occupational Health & Safety Engineer responsible for site-wide EHS programs and processes to safeguard employees and surrounding communities and ensure facilities comply with regulations. Functions as an EHS generalist or in a multidisciplinary capacity, with occasional travel to Florida locations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and implement EHS programs and processes across the site to maintain regulatory compliance and safe operations.
  • Provide in-depth knowledge and experience in general safety, occupational health, and environmental regulations; lead project teams as needed.
  • Support emergency response and preparedness on a 24/7 basis.
  • Oversee OHSA-related programs and occupational health programs including industrial hygiene, medical surveillance, hearing conservation, chemical management, and process containment.
  • Ensure completion of all training requirements and 100% compliance with assignments.
  • Maintain safe work areas and ensure operations comply with company policies, cGMPs, SOPs, and batch record instructions.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or equivalent; 3–5 years of relevant progressive pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • Required: Minimum of 7 years of environmental or safety and regulatory compliance experience, preferably in food, drug, or cosmetic industry.
  • Preferred: CIH or CSP certification.
  • Required: Experience with Federal, state, and local regulations related to environment, health, and safety (OSHA, EPA, FL DEP, etc.).
  • Knowledge areas: General Safety, Occupational Safety, Process Safety, Environmental Regulation; knowledge of cGMP is a plus.

Skills

  • Ability to implement goals, objectives, and practices for effective resource management.
  • Experience writing, preparing, and presenting safety-related regulatory programs; preparing clear reports.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; able to interact with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to establish cooperative working relationships and operate MS Office.
  • Experience developing and delivering safety and regulatory compliance training.
  • Self-starter, results-driven; proactive problem solving and solution implementation.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced environment; scheduling flexibility for shift coverage; on-call for emergencies.
  • Training and presentation skills; ability to convey complex concepts clearly.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or equivalent from an accredited college or university.

Additional Requirements

  • Travel: Less than 30% to different Florida locations; valid driver’s license; use of personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement.
  • On-call 24 hours for emergency response needs.
