Description:
The US Field Medical Lead (FML) – Obesity / Cardiometabolic is the primary HCP-facing communicator conducting scientific exchanges and gathering/sharing insights within assigned program(s) in the obesity/cardiometabolic therapeutic area. Establishes and maintains relationships with HCPs, key opinion leaders (KOLs), and academic institutions to provide fair, balanced, objective scientific information about products in development; serves as a conduit between external stakeholders and internal cross-functional teams.
Experience / Qualifications:
- Advanced scientific degree (PharmD, MD, and/or PhD in biological sciences) required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a medical/scientific, clinical, and/or FML role within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
- Obesity / Cardiometabolic experience highly preferred
- US-based field role near a major airport; East Coast in ET zone preferred (not required)
Responsibilities:
- Identify, establish, and maintain long-term collaborative partnerships with KOLs, study site investigators, HCPs, and academic institutions/centers of excellence
- Support high-quality execution of clinical trial and development initiative timelines via proactive/reactive trial site engagement, education, and internal collaboration
- Present approved data and conduct balanced peer-to-peer scientific exchanges/education with KOLs, HCPs, and stakeholders consistent with company policies
- Represent the company at scientific conferences/meetings; support medical booth activities as needed; cultivate relationships; gather/share real-world insights and competitive intelligence
- Collaborate on the scientific communication plan and medical-to-medical materials
- Maintain strong partnerships with internal cross-functional teams (regulatory, clinical development, development operations)
- Gather field insights on data, therapeutic area, and competitive intelligence to inform strategies and evidence generation plans
- Ensure compliance with internal/external regulatory and legal guidelines
- Maintain clinical, scientific, and technical expertise in the therapeutic area
Key Skills:
- Understanding of clinical research methodologies; ability to independently evaluate and translate scientific material effectively and credibly
- Strong understanding of cardiometabolic therapeutic area and clinical development
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel regionally/nationally in the US and occasionally internationally up to 50–70%
Pay & Benefits (from job posting):
- Annual base salary range: $154,000 – $220,000
