Role Summary
Technician II, Maintenance & Reliability at Durham, NC. Responsible for ensuring optimal performance of critical process equipment, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, and conducting preventive and predictive maintenance to keep operations safe, efficient, and audit-ready.
Responsibilities
- Maintain all laboratory and process equipment supporting the manufacturing site, including fillers, isolators, autoclaves, parts washers, bioreactors, analytical equipment, mixers, and facility infrastructure.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair motors, pumps, valves, filters, compressors, switches, elastomers, dampers, fans, piping, transmitters, vessels, safety devices, and other components.
- Perform corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance in compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Lead initial alarm response, notify system owners, and resolve alarm conditions promptly.
- Ensure accurate, compliant documentation for all maintenance activities in cGMP environments.
- Oversee external service providers and drive operational improvements, repairs, and asset replacements to enhance reliability.
- Coach and mentor junior technicians and interns to build technical capability within the team.
- Lead equipment and system shutdown/start-up activities to ensure safety and reliability.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or certification in Engineering Technology or related skilled trade field, with 2 years of relevant working experience (biotech, pharma, or similar), or 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems using technical drawings and schematics.
- Experience with Building Management Systems and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
- Strong understanding of industrial safety standards, including lockout/tagout procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends.
