Technical Architect

As a Technical Architect, you work closely with business architects and solution architects to understand business needs, produce project level designs, system integration strategies, and project deliverable criteria. You will work to identify gaps in current technology roadmaps, create migration plans, and prioritize work efforts to design quality business driven solutions complying with architecture standards to meet defined business outcomes and organizational process. You’ll conceptualize, plan and communicate enterprise and technical strategic vision to all departmental and business partners. Technical Architects typically work cross hub units to coordinate integrations of technology solutions (e.g. software, data science, data engineering).

Your Tasks And Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Collaborate with business architects to model technical implementation strategy (across hubs) aligning to long term business strategy, understand and own entire solution tying to a business outcome
  • Provide the functional architect with information on available software technologies and architectures designs that can meet those business and process requirements
  • Create and maintain architectural blueprints to translate domain vision and strategy into a strategic systems architecture vision that allows planning project portfolios aligned with overall Breeding strategy
  • Be able to communicate how business process translates to technology implementation and data model/strategy
  • Provide guidance and assistance on architectural designs and guideline to project teams
  • Conduct development and analysis of potential alternative technology solutions, ensures fit with current roadmap and business plans

Who You Are

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related technical discipline
  • Expertise in domain knowledge, expected business outcomes, and strong understanding of cross hub technology solutions.
  • Ability to lead the solution and technical architecture workstreams of a complex and medium/large scale implementation focused on connectivity and data flows between a complex portfolio of loosely integrated applications; being the bridge between the business and project teams; working closely with project teams to drive the implementation of solution architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of software architecture patterns, system/enterprise architecture patterns, security architecture patterns, cloud infrastructure, and data modeling/strategy.
  • Familiarity with front end and backend technologies
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture toolsets and standards
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to lead complex initiatives involving coordination of multiple technical initiatives and alignment of system integration while providing mentorship to less experienced architects.
  • Requires coordination across all technical units and across hubs.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related technical discipline
  • Knowledge of architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF) would be a plus

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $138k-208k. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
