Role Summary

Supply & Planning Operations Manager- Onsite at AbbVie. Oversees production planning, purchasing, warehousing, shipping, and coordination of incoming sampling operations. Develops long and short-range planning of production materials, forecasts product volumes and demands, costs, manufacturing capacity, and inventory investment goals. Ensures inventory plans and supplier management for supply assurance and on-time receipt and shipment. Oversees Quality, Regulatory, and Financial expectations and ensures compliance with applicable regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates cross-functionally to update and maintain the Manufacturing Production Schedule to ensure manufacturing activities are planned according to priority and availability of equipment, personnel, and materials.
  • Manages direct material inventory levels and ensures availability of materials for production needs that meet storage capacity, including monitoring of the Select Agent Inventory System.
  • Manages the execution and coordination of warehousing activities to ensure the receiving, inspection, and sampling of all materials are handled and managed in compliance.
  • Manages the manufacturing services team with oversight of pre and post batch preparation activities.
  • Coordinates the sales and operations planning (S&OP) process with the team including supply/demand forecasting and on-time delivery.
  • Oversees SAP recipe data ensuring master data setup accuracy and integrity.
  • Evaluates technology solutions to improve scheduling and inventory planning.
  • Ensures an effective inventory replenishment process for direct materials in conjunction with Procurement; provides oversight for all materials on the approved supplier list (ASL).
  • Leads complex improvement projects in coordination with the global procurement team on ordering, deliveries, vendor selection, and negotiations.
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with key Operations stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Science, Engineering, or Business
  • Minimum 8–10 years of extensive experience in Operations, Supply Chain Management, or related fields
  • Knowledge of end-to-end drug substance manufacturing processes
  • Strong knowledge of Planning and Quality systems
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP
  • Persistent, resilient, and resourceful in overcoming obstacles; able to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills, plus mentoring/coaching and excellent verbal and written communication
