Role Summary

The Gastroenterology Therapeutic Area Medical Affairs Intern is based in Horsham, PA and supports GI TA projects within J&J Immunology Medical Affairs. The internship provides industry-specific, practical scientific and analytical experience focused on inflammatory bowel diseases, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Interns will collaborate with GI TA staff, gain exposure to cross-functional teams across Medical Affairs, R&D, and Commercial organizations, and help in study start-up activities and publications, with the goal of developing real-world skills for a career in medical affairs.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with GI TA staff supporting ongoing projects
  • Assist with activities associated with study start-up, publications for J&J-sponsored studies, etc.
  • Participate in ongoing GI TA team meetings
  • Be exposed to various other functions within the larger Medical Affairs/Research & Development/Commercial organizations (Immunology)

Qualifications

  • Required: Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing undergraduate study or graduate study in PharmD, PhD, MPH, NP/PA or other master’s programs
  • Required: Position will be based in Horsham, PA and involve approximately 8 hours of work per day, Monday through Friday (40-hour work week)
  • Required: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future
  • Required: Candidates must be detail-oriented, highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks
  • Required: Candidates must have the ability to work individually (independently) as well as on a team
  • Required: Candidates need to be proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel (including a high proficiency with generating tables and graphs), and Power Point, and have strong oral and written communication skills. Additional technical competencies in SharePoint and other information technology systems are highly desirable, as is experience with PubMed databases and other literature databases.
  • Preferred: Candidates with academic and/or industrial clinical trial experience
  • Preferred: Participation in campus/community service activities is desired
