Director, Corporate Strategy
What You Will Do
- Shape Amgen’s long-term direction by leading initiatives that inform key business decisions.
- Partner with senior enterprise leaders to evaluate opportunities, address complex business questions, and position the company for long-term success.
- Work on varied projects, including developing the annual Board of Directors strategy update and analyzing competitive trends and biopharmaceutical landscape changes.
- Translate complex analyses into clear recommendations.
- Build cross-functional relationships across R&D, Commercial, Operations, Finance, Business Development, and other functions.
- Mentor junior Corporate Strategy team members and foster a collaborative, high-performing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner in developing the annual strategy update for the Board of Directors.
- Lead enterprise initiatives with cross-functional partners to develop recommendations and concise communications for senior leadership.
- Conduct market, competitive, portfolio, and financial analyses; evaluate industry trends, competitive dynamics, emerging technologies, and external developments.
- Mentor and develop junior team members.
Basic Qualifications
- Doctorate degree and 4 years of healthcare business experience
OR
- Master’s degree and 7 years of healthcare business experience
OR
- Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of healthcare business experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Life Sciences; MBA preferred
- Experience in corporate strategy/management consulting/corporate development or comparable biopharmaceutical/healthcare role
- Strong global biopharmaceutical industry knowledge and competitive landscape understanding
- Ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives and influence decision-making
- Executive communication/presentation skills; experience developing materials for senior leadership
- Strong analytical/financial skills
- Ability to build alignment without direct authority
- Experience managing/developing high-performing team members
Remote/Work Hours
- May be performed remotely; flexibility to support Pacific Time working hours during high business activity is expected.
