Role Summary

The Strategic Account Executive will drive the launch and promotion of a new oncology therapy for an ultra-rare hematologic cancer. You will build and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders to drive adoption of the therapy. This role requires a strategic, results-oriented pharma sales professional with experience collaborating across cross-functional teams. Location: must be within a reasonable driving distance to Chicago, IL or Minneapolis, MN; travel up to 75% may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders where appropriate.
  • Monitor and analyze territory level sales data.
  • Proactively communicate with the marketing team through ongoing feedback on the development and implementation of effective selling materials.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams to support key accounts within the geography.
  • Teamwork with other account managers across the country.
  • Key account management that engages the entire care team.
  • Educate on the preparation and administration requirements of approved products; and adverse event mitigation, monitoring, and management.
  • Educate patient care teams about initiation and managing patients per protocols associated with the product.
  • Represent AbbVie as a partner of choice in the ultra-rare Hematology space with HCP and Patient Organizations.
  • Attend and actively participate in local oncology society meetings, conferences, patient programs, support groups, advocacy events, etc., some of which occur in the evenings or weekends.
  • An essential requirement of your position is to meet health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements for entry into facilities and organizations that are in your assigned territory. These HCIR credentialing requirements may include, but not limited to, background checks, drug screens, and proof of immunization/vaccination for various diseases.

Qualifications

  • Required: 5-7+ years of pharmaceutical/medical device sales
  • Required: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Required: Strong analytics with excellent overall business acumen including budget planning and management.
  • Required: Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and influencing matrix partners.
  • Required: Ability to foster strong relationships with senior management and external partners.
  • Required: Possess excellent business acumen, business insights, and strategic mindset.
  • Required: Self-directed and willing to travel on short notice when a patient is identified that needs help.
  • Required: Demonstrate confidence, persuasiveness, ability to motivate others, and ability to influence without formal authority.
  • Required: History of leading key account management teams for complex customers such as IDNs, Academic Institutions, Hospitals, Large Groups practices, etc.
  • Required: Demonstrate a high level of patient centricity.
  • Required: Willing to travel up to 75% of the time; business travel by air or car is regularly required.
  • Required: Driving a personal auto or company car or truck, or a powered piece of material handling equipment.
  • Required: Valid driver's license; ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • Preferred: Launch experience in pharmaceutical sales
  • Preferred: Rare disease/oncology/hematology experience
  • Preferred: Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively cross-functionally.
  • Preferred: Demonstrated ability to operate quickly and decisively in a fast-paced, matrixed, and demanding environment.
  • Preferred: Previous account management experience
  • Preferred: MBA or Graduate Degree
  • Preferred: Familiarity with buy-and-bill therapies
  • Preferred: Omni channel experience balancing in-person promotion with digital assets and other mediums to amplify share of voice to key customers
