Position Summary
Bio-Techne is seeking an innovative and experienced Staff Scientist to lead Process Optimization, initially supporting the Maurice product line. The role bridges assay science, hardware engineering, consumables design, and manufacturing to ensure robust real-world performance of instruments, reusable consumables, and reagents.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and troubleshooting to resolve product performance issues.
- Define and execute validation plans for design or process changes based on customer usage data.
- Partner with development and manufacturing teams to evaluate and implement reagent/consumable designs, manufacturing protocols, and process controls.
- Collaborate with development and applications teams to troubleshoot end-user workflows and assay requirements (may include customer interactions).
- Optimize, validate, and implement manufacturing process improvements for reagents and high-volume consumables.
- Prepare technical reports, failure analysis documentation, and presentations for stakeholders.
- International travel to Canada (estimated 1β4 times/year).
Education and Experience / Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Biology, Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or relevant field.
- 10+ yearsβ experience in life science instrumentation, consumables manufacturing, or regulated analytical environments.
- Demonstrated assay development and troubleshooting experience (ideally biologics analytics).
- Advanced statistical/problem-solving skills to extract actionable insights from multifaceted data.
- Strong understanding of product design, development, and manufacturing for complex consumables/reagents.
- Hands-on experience in process development, scale-up, and/or validation in a commercial manufacturing setting.
- Experience with root cause analysis and process validation using meaningful experiments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities; strong communication/documentation skills.
